Bail has been granted to a woman accused of helping two murder suspects accused of killing a family in Medicine Hat, Alta., last month.

Kacy Lancaster has been released from jail, but she must stay in her mother's home unless there is a medical or legal reason to leave.

Lancaster is charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact.   The victims were a husband and wife and their eight-year-old son.   Their 12-year-old daughter, who's identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Jeremy Steinke, each face three counts of first-degree murder.  They'll be back in court next month.

The judge hearing the Crown's application said he was convinced Lancaster is better off at home, but not in the community.    There is a publication ban on all other evidence released at the hearing

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is trying to clarify his comments about Canada sending troops to Sudan, suggesting that if troops go, there won't be many.   On Wednesday, Harper said a troop deployment to the troubled Darfur region was possible, contradicting Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor, who said earlier in the week that Canada's military is stretched too thin to handle another deployment.
