Four senior Mexican police investigators are due to meet with Canadian police on Monday as the probe into the double murder of a Woodbridge, Ont., couple nears its third month.

FROM MARCH 14, 2006: More Mounties sent to watch Ianiero probe

The Mexican delegation includes Bello Melchor Rodriguez, the attorney general for the state of Quintana Roo, as well as James Carmichael, an RCMP officer stationed in Mexico City.

They will meet in Ottawa with officials of the RCMP and York Regional Police as well as members of the Ianiero family for what the Toronto Star described as "a low-profile information-sharing visit."

FROM MARCH 8, 2006: 4 resort workers sought in Ianiero case: report

"They are going to share experiences," said Mauricio Guerrero, a spokesman for the Mexican Embassy in Ottawa. "They are going to compare legal frameworks, get to know how the RCMP does its own investigations, learning how we can co-operate presently and in the future."

Nancy Ianiero, 55, and her husband Dominic, 59, were found dead in their hotel room at the posh Barcelo Maya Beach Resort near Cancun on Feb. 20, just days before a family wedding.

"This could be the beginning of an institutional relationship between two authorities that could get involved in another bilateral or binational investigation," Guerrero said. "This visit is the result of that new relationship between RCMP authorities and local authorities in Quintana Roo."
