KOLN (Bundesliga) - Most basketball fans expect to see Alba Berlin take on Bamberg in the Bundesliga final but rest assured, RheinEnergie Koln and Eisbaren Bremerhaven are going to have their say.
Koln levelled their play-off semi-final series with Bamberg on Thursday with a 65-49 triumph.
Leading 33-32 at half-time, RheinEnergie outscored Dirk Bauermann & Co 20-12 over the next 10 minutes and then limited Bamberg to just five points in the fourth quarter.
RheinEnergie got a 17-point effort from Aleksandar Nadjfeji while Germany international Steffen Hamann and Derrick Phelps each had 13 to pace Bamberg.
Hamann stands an excellent chance of playing for Germany at the FIBA World Championship.
Game Three in the best-of-five semi-final is on Sunday back in Bamberg.
It was a night of upsets because another leading team in Germany, Alba slipped up 87-85 at Eisbaren Bremerhaven to leave that series knotted at 1-1.
Nick Jacobson erupted for 25 points to lead Bremerhaven while Jovo Stanojevic had 21 in defeat.
Alba also return home for Game Three on Sunday.
