RIO DE JANEIRO (Campeonato Nacional) - Rio Claro lead the semi-finals of the Campeonato Nacional following a 90-80 victory over Telemar.

The top two sides from the six-team semi-finals will advance to the championship, and Courtney is doing his best to make sure Rio Claro are in the title showdown.

He top-scored with 22 points, and already has his sights on a third-straight victory against Franca in round three.

He said: "We played very hard and with our heart to win the game and we are very happy to have done that. But we have to beat Franca in the next game to look for the third victory in a row."

Dede was Telemar's stand out player with 19 points.

Elsewhere, Jefferson scored 24 points to help Ribeirao Preto registered the first semi-final victory, securing a 89-88 overtime win Torres.

Danilo led the way for Torres with 22 points.

Universo/BRB also won for the first time, overcoming Franca 96-92.

American Charles Byrd was the leading scorer for Universo/BRB with 18 points, although Franca's Helinho was the game's leading scorer with 21 points.
