VALENCIENNES (Ligue Feminine) - Bourges defeated US Valenciennes in the hottest rivalry in European women's basketball to capture the Ligue Feminine title on Sunday.

Having narrowly missed out on a place in the EuroLeague Women Final Four after losing to eventual champions Gambrinus Sika Brno, Bourges have rebounded in style with three straight trophies, the latest of which was secured with a 71-58 triumph over USVO on Sunday.

Bourges beat the same opponents in the Coupe de France and the Tournoi de la Federation.

On Sunday, they took control at the start of the second half, going on an 8-0 run to seize a 47-33 lead.

USVO, who reached the EuroLeague Women Final Four but fell to Gambrinus in the semi-final, pulled to within nine points at 55-46 by the end of the third quarter, but they were unable to complete the fightback.

The 3,200 fans at the Salle du Hainaut witnessed another tremendous effort from Bourges center Mudju Ngoyisa who finished with a game-high 21 points.

Sandra Le Drean poured in 14 points for USVO.
