DJERBA (FIBA World Championship for Women) - The EuroBasket winning Czech Republic women's team have gathered for a training camp ahead of the FIBA World Championship for Women on the Tunisian island of Djerba.

The players, many of who recently captured the EuroLeague Women title with Gambrinus Sika Brno, were given a month off after a long, hard campaign with their clubs. Twelve players, head coach Jan Bobrovsky and assistant Lubor Blazek have travelled to Djerba.

"We will concentrate on physical preparation mostly," said Bobrovsky, also the coach of Gambrinus, to http://www.basket.idnes.cz/. "We will do running and weight lifting."

A pair of important players are not with the group, however, in Jana Vesela and Eva Viteckova. Vesela, a 22-year-old center, and 24-year-old sharp-shooting Viteckova have remained in the Czech Republic to prepare for their final university exams.

The next training camps after Tunisia will be in Brno and in Luhacovice. The Czech team will travel to China to play in two tournaments after that.

Another part of the preparations will be in Brno again where Czech team will play three games against Belgium. From August 8 to 10, the Czechs will take on Canada and Latvia.

The final part of preparations will be a tournament in Brno from August 28 to September 3 when they play Australia and Russia.

The Czech team will travel to the FIBA World Championship for Women in Brazil on September 7 and their first Group D game is against France on September 12.

Bobrovsky and Co will also face Cuba and Chinese Taipai in the group.
