Christian artists in the UK are coming together this weekend to spread the message of peace, unity and integration as part of the London Week of Peace celebrations.
Taking place Saturday 16 September, performances in music, drama, dance, and an 'open mic session’ will be featured to entertain and deliver the importance of peaceful living.
Performing artists include Lisa Mayers, GKReal, CL6, Dwayne Tryumf, Virtuous, Commission, Elyon, Rebirth, among many others.
The event aimed at the whole family will take place at Powerhouse International Ministries (PHIM).
Although the event is free, attendees are asked to bring items to donate to the Relief Fund for Romania in Dagenham which is urgently in need of items to sell to continue its good work.
The Week of Peace (10 -17 September) is a festival celebrating diversity and promoting justice, equality and respect through activities across boroughs in London. The week will profile and promote community safety and peace initiatives, offering Londoners the opportunity to participate and dialogue in a range of issues, whilst being able to contribute to a more cohesive society.
The London Week of Peace has continually been endorsed by the Prime Minister, Home Secretaries, Metropolitan Police Commanders and various leading political figures. It is facilitated by the strategic group involving representatives from the Greater London Authority, Government Office for London, the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police Authority, Crime-stoppers, London Fire Brigade, The Peace Alliance and other strategic interest groups.
The former Home Secretary, Hon Charles Clarke said, “I am delighted to offer my support for the London Week of Peace 2006, one of the most important elements in tackling crime and disorder is for us all to work together. The opportunity that the London Week of Peace affords for people from across the capital to come together to enjoy the wealth of activities on offer, to celebrate the diversity of our communities, discuss issues, and take part in events in a true spirit of cooperation and respect, is of immense value.”
Other supporters of the weeklong initiative include the former leader of the Conservative Party, Sir Michael Howard, the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, and the Commissioner of Police, Sir Ian Blair. The City of London and the Metropolitan Commissioners of Police both welcomed the initiative along with the Mayor of London, the Lord and Lady Mayor and Mayoress of the City of London and the Bishop of London.
