Firefighters continue to make great suppression efforts in the western states. The Grays Creek fire near Council and the Tamarack Resort was contained yesterday at 24,900 acres. Other wildland fires are estimated to be contained later this week as well.
Weather Discussion: Warmer and drier conditions are predicted for the Great Basin area as well as eastern Washington and Oregon today. Cooler weather conditions and higher humidity is expected along the West Coast. The southeastern states will continue to have showers and thunderstorms.

Moonlight (Plum as National Forest): 63,141 acres at 28 percent contained. This fire is eight miles northeast of Greenville. Active fire behavior continued. Local communities and historical sites are threatened and evacuated.

Bridge (Clearwater National Forest): 42,900 acres at zero percent contained. This complex of two fires is 45 miles southwest of Missoula. Creeping, smoldering, and torching were observed.

Rattlesnake (Nez Perce National Forest): 99,800 acres at 25 percent contained. This fire is 25 miles south of Elk City. Minimal fire activity was reported.

Cascade Complex (Boise National Forest): 284,464 acres at 30 percent contained. This complex of two fires is 16 miles northeast of Cascade. Structures, power lines, cultural sites, and historical cabins continue to be threatened. Evacuations and road closures are in place.

East Zone Complex (Payette National Forest): 272,647 acres at an unknown percent contained. This complex is made up of three fires, 25 miles northeast of McCall. Active fire behavior was reported. Structures are threatened and road closures are in effect.

Krassel Complex (Payette National Forest): 67,266 acres. This Wildland Fire Use (WFU) complex is being managed to accomplish natural resource objectives. Four fires are included within this complex, which is 44 miles northeast of Yellow Pine. Active fire behavior was reported.

NEW Joe Leg (Miles City Field Office, Bureau of Land Management): 357 acres at 10 percent contained. This fire is burning 12 miles northeast of Baylor. Wind driven fire behavior was observed. The fire is estimated to be contained tomorrow.
Sawmill Complex (Lolo National Forest): 62,650 acres at 35 percent contained. This complex consists of four fires and is located 22 miles southeast of Missoula. Minimal fire activity was reported.
