Brown Bag Series Starts Again Oct. 5th with Old Spanish Trail Presentation
St. George, Utah - Bring along your lunch and join us on October 5, for the kick-off of the fall “Brown Bag” lecture series. Programs are scheduled every Friday at noon and last for one hour. Programs are held at the Interagency Information Center, located at 345 E. Riverside Drive in St. George.
Admission is free, but space is limited for this popular lecture series. Obtain tickets in advance from the Interagency Information Center to reserve a seat. The lecture series is sponsored by the Arizona Strip Interpretive Association, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service. For more information call 435-688-3246.
October 5: Old Spanish Trail - The Utah Passage
Commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month with a presentation by Al Matheson on the Old Spanish Trail routes through Utah. This program will be a prelude to a much more extensive Old Spanish Trail Symposium scheduled for October 12 in Cedar City.
October 12: “Only You”
Celebrate National Fire Prevention Week with Bureau of Land Management wildland firefighter Brenyn Lohmoelder and learn some really simple things you can do to prevent wildfires. She will also discuss fire suppression and demonstrate some basic equipment.
October 19: The Virgin River – Lifeblood of Southwestern Utah
Join Virgin River Program coordinator Steve Meismer to learn more about the importance of the Virgin River and the collaborative effort between local, state and federal partners to balance human interests with the conservation of this unique ecosystem.
October 26: New Creatures Discovered on the Arizona Strip
Just in time for Halloween, meet with National Park Service cave specialist Kyle Voyles to review some recent discoveries of cave dwelling species of millipedes and crickets.
