Upcoming Bat Talks in Oceanside and Carlsbad CA

Bat Rescue will give a free family bat talk at the Buena Vista Audubon Nature Center on Thursday October 25th, 2202 S. Coast Highway in Oceanside. The Buena Vista Audubon Society’s general meeting/social begins at 7:00pm, and our bat program will start at 7:30. We’ll give an interactive slide presentation, and then introduce you to a few of the local bat species which might be encountered along our coastal lagoons as they start hunting insects at dusk every night.

The BV Audubon Society also offers great educational programs the rest of the year, and you should check out their offerings here: www.bvaudubon.org . If you need additional information about this great conservation group or the bat talk, please call the BVAS Nature Center at 760-439-2473.

The following Sunday, October 28th, you could join us just down the coast in Carlsbad at the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center, 1580 Cannon Road accompanied by a few members of our Education Bat Squad. The 3rd Annual Bats In Your Belfry Halloween Festival runs from 12:00pm-6:00pm, and the bat talks will be at 1:30pm and 4:00pm. Each talk will start with our family-oriented bat slide show/presentation, and then we’ll finish our talks by waking a few bats so you can see who’s been trying to keep the mosquito population down for us all summer.

Advance tickets are required for this event because of limited seating and a small donation is requested for the tickets. For more information or to purchase tickets, stop by the Discovery Center at 1580 Cannon Road near Faraday Avenue, or call (760) 804-2969. To learn more about the Discovery Center and the group’s conservation efforts you can visit their website at www.aguahedionda.org.
