Erwin Schrödinger
Erwin Schrödinger was a brilliant theoretical and experimental physicist who worked in Vienna, Zürich and Berlin in the first half of the 20th century. He was a significant contributor to the wave theory of matter, a form of quantum physics, and he devised the mathematical equation of wave mechanics that bears his name. Schrödinger's research was interrupted by two world wars, but he nonetheless made continued advancements in both quantum theory and color theory. In 1933 he was a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize for physics. Today he is popularly known for one small part of his writings about physics: the paradox of Schrödinger's Cat, his colorful way of discussing how quantum physics often deals in probabilities rather than observable certainties.

Schrödinger's Cat joins Pavlov's Dogs in Who's What?, our loop on terms derived from famous names.
