I saw this Extremetech piece while going through my feed list today. Kind of makes me wonder if this jibes with the experiences of most other gamers who have tried to run Windows games in a Linux environment.I've heard of people running City of Heroes and World of Warcraft in Linux flavors using various technologies like WINE and such and the few that I've run into had good experiences doing so, but I wonder about those PC gamers out there who have tried and found the whole process wanting.

As you all know, I've been testing Sun's T1000 for the last few months. The process is a long one, not helped by holidays and real work which gets in the way. The headline rates are interesting, but I'm hoping to be able to squeeze a little more of the box if I can. To test, I installed the Cool Tools stack (which includes optimized MySQL, Apache and PHP configurations), upped the configuration to support many thousands of concurrent connections, and then used a variety of tools and values to test the capabilities of the box, from small to large numbers of concurrent requests.

This pilot fish's IT support work for a natural gas processor isn't exactly a standard-issue help desk job. "Once a month, our technicians had to physically drive to each gas well and calibrate the meter using a laptop computer," fish says.

Microsoft gets back into the browser match, and makes a game of it finally. Mozilla's return volley isn't as strong. But does it need to be? Scot Finnie takes an in-depth look at the new Firefox.

Woah there, it's IT Blogwatch, in which another IE7 vulnerability rears its ugly head, prompting the inevitable comparisons with Firefox 2.0. Not to mention more amazing experiments with Diet Coke and Mentos...Jeremy Kirk has deja vu. All over again:A security problem originally found in Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer 6 browser has returned to haunt IE7, the new version of the browser launched two weeks ago, a security consultant said Monday. Danish security consultancy Secunia AsP posted an advisory regarding an issue where an attacker could potentially snare logins and passwords from an unsuspecting IE7 user. Over two years ago, security researchers reported the same fault in IE6.
